According to recent data released by the Russian Association of Car Dealers, the total transaction volume of Russia’s new and used car market reached 13.8 trillion rubles at the end of 2025, a decrease of 7.8% from 2024. This marks the first negative growth in sales for Russia’s automobile market (including new and used vehicles) since 2015.
As reported by Yicai Global, Russia’s new car market sales amounted to 4.6 trillion rubles in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 18.4%, while the used car market turnover reached 9.2 trillion rubles, rising by 1.4%. In terms of sales volume, Russia’s new passenger car sales totaled 1.326 million units in 2025, down 15.6% year-on-year.
The Ukraine war led to sanctions affecting the used car market, allowing Chinese automobile brands to achieve deep penetration into the Russian market in just two to three years.
